This experimental study investigates the cortical bone milling process, focusing on the sensitivity analysis of key machining parameters such as spindle speed, cutting depth, feed rate, and tool diameter. Bone milling plays a critical role in orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures, where controlling temperature and cutting forces is a significant challenge. Experiments were conducted on bovine bone samples to evaluate the effects of these four parameters on cutting temperature and cutting force. A Sobol sensitivity analysis was employed to assess the contribution of each parameter to the variations in temperature and force. The results revealed that cutting depth had the most significant impact on temperature, contributing 90.7%, while tool diameter was identified as the dominant factor affecting cutting force, accounting for 59.7%. Furthermore, multi-objective optimization using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was applied to determine the optimal process conditions. These findings provide valuable insights for optimizing machining parameters in surgical and biomedical applications.
