Abstract
Recognizing the contact area between the disc and pads will help to better understand this system and prevent abnormal sounds during braking. In this paper, the goal is to investigate the contact area between the disc and the pads using a thin layer element. At first, an experimental study and the finite element modeling of different parts of the structure have been considered. In this model, the contact area between the disc and the pads has been modeled with thin layer elements. Then by using experimental results, the contact parameters between the disc and the pads have been identified and the equivalent contact stiffness by increasing the braking pressure has been considered. The results show that the presented model for modeling the contact area between the disc and the brack pads with a small error compared to the real model is a suitable and sufficiently accurate model and can be applied in various dynamic analyses of the brake system.
